Choosing between the versions
Stone. Lab grown diamond gives the crisp white brilliance of a mined diamond and comes with an IGI report. Moissanite costs less and throws more colourful fire. At the same carat weight the moissanite versions here run several hundred dollars lower.
Shape. The elongated cushion reads softer and slightly vintage. The oval looks longer on the finger and appears larger per carat. The round is the most classic and the brightest.
Open or closed. The Closed Snowdrift is the more solid, substantial variation; the standard version is lighter in feel.
Carat. One carat suits smaller hands and a subtler look. Two carats is the most popular. Three reads as a statement.
Sizing and wear
Snowdrift designs sit relatively low, which makes them more practical for daily wear than a tall solitaire — less catching on clothing and less rotation on the finger. All come in US sizes 2 to 13 in quarter-size increments, and solid gold can be resized later.
