Gemstone Eternity Bands: Sapphire, Emerald and Amethyst
A coloured eternity band is the most striking way to wear a gemstone every day, and the hardest to get wrong — there is no centre stone to judge, only the quality of the matching across the line.
What we make
Emerald Cut Moissanite Eternity Band — $1,650
The one thing to check before buying
Full eternity bands usually cannot be resized. Stones run the entire circumference, so there is no plain metal to cut and rejoin. If your size may change, or you are buying as a surprise, choose a half eternity instead — the stones cover the top half and the plain back allows resizing.
Which stone suits daily wear
Sapphire rates 9 on the Mohs scale, second only to diamond, and handles daily wear indefinitely
Emerald rates 7.5 to 8 and is often oil-treated, so it suits regular wear with care
Amethyst rates 7, fine for regular wear, though prolonged sunlight can fade the colour over years
Aquamarine rates 7.5 to 8, durable enough for everyday use
On a band, which knocks against desks and door handles more than a pendant ever does, hardness matters more than it would elsewhere.
Matching matters more than carat weight
On a single-stone ring you judge the stone. On an eternity band you judge the consistency: twenty stones of slightly different tone look wrong in a way one stone never can. That matching is most of the work and most of the cost.
Frequently asked questions
Can an eternity band be resized?
Full eternity bands generally cannot. Half eternity bands usually can, within a size or two.
Which gemstone is best for an eternity band?
Sapphire, for hardness. Emerald and amethyst are beautiful but need more care.
What does ctw mean on an eternity band?
Total carat weight across all the stones combined, which is the correct measure when there is no centre stone. See what CTW means.
How much does a gemstone eternity band cost?
From $1,650 in our range, depending on stone, carat weight and karat.
