Buying From a Small Jeweller Instead of a Big Brand
We are a small workshop. This page sets out, as fairly as we can, when that is an advantage for you and when it is not.
What you give up
Recognition. A known brand tells people what you spent and reassures the person receiving it. If the name on the box matters for this gift, buy the name. That is a legitimate reason.
Walk-in convenience. We have showrooms in Surat and Bangkok, but if you live near neither, you cannot try a piece on before buying. A national chain with a branch near you can.
Enormous stone inventories. Large retailers list tens of thousands of individually certified stones with filters down to the millimetre. A workshop sources per order.
Instant delivery. Made to order means waiting while it is made. Roughly 4 business days here before dispatch, plus transit.
Years of public reviews. This is the hardest one for a small store, and the reason we publish delivery records instead.
What you gain
Lower prices for the same specification. No showroom leases, no national advertising. The same certified stone in the same karat costs less.
Choice of karat and colour on every design. Ours come in 10K, 14K and 18K and in three gold colours, because each is made for the order rather than picked off a shelf.
Nothing plated. Everything we sell is solid gold throughout, at every price point, including under $500.
A person who answers. Message us and the reply comes from the people who make the jewellery. Ask whether a design suits a thin finger, whether a stone will look yellow in daylight, or whether you should spend less.
Honest answers against our own interest. We will tell you when moissanite makes more sense than a lab diamond, or when a smaller stone in a better cut beats a larger one.
How to protect yourself when buying small
This is the part most small retailers skip, so here it is plainly.
Pay by card or PayPal. Both give you recourse independent of the seller. Never pay a jeweller by bank transfer, Venmo, Zelle or crypto, with us or anyone else.
Check the certificate yourself on the issuing laboratory's website.
Ask a question before ordering and see whether a human answers, how fast, and whether the answer is useful.
Check the return window and who pays postage.
Look for a hallmark when the piece arrives, and have it tested if you want certainty.
When to buy from the big brand instead
The recipient cares about the name on the box
You want to try pieces on nearby, and you are not near Surat or Bangkok
You need financing or instalments
You want a very specific certified stone from a large inventory
You need it tomorrow
None of those are failings in you or wins for us. They are just cases where we are not the right choice.
Frequently asked questions
Is jewellery from a small jeweller lower quality?
Quality comes from the metal, the stone and the setting work, not the size of the company. Check the karat hallmark and the stone certificate and you can judge for yourself.
Why is it cheaper?
Lower overheads, no showrooms and no national advertising. The making cost is similar; the retail markup is not.
What if the business disappears?
A legitimate risk with any small retailer. Paying by card or PayPal means your money is recoverable, and solid gold jewellery can be repaired by any jeweller anywhere.
Can I see it before I commit?
We will photograph your actual piece before dispatch and send it to you, and we can do a video call. It is not the same as a showroom, but it is closer than most online retailers offer.
Browse everything in solid gold.
Where we actually are
We are not a website with no address behind it. We work from two premises:
Surat, India — SNS Platina, 307, 3rd Floor, Surat 395007. Surat is where a large share of the world's diamonds are cut and polished.
Bangkok, Thailand — 1249/211 Gems Tower Building, 34th Floor, Rooms G-H-I, Charoen Krung Road, Suriyawong, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500. This is the building Bangkok's gem and jewellery trade works from, and it is where your order is made and shipped from.
Both are showrooms where you can see pieces in person and be served by the people who make them. Appointments are best, so we can have the pieces you want to see ready. To arrange one, message us and we will book you in.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 9am to 9pm, local time at each showroom. WhatsApp: +1 647 547 3342 — one WhatsApp line for every country, answered from the workshop by the people who make the jewellery. Message us to book a showroom visit or to ask anything before you order.
It is also why your parcel arrives from Bangkok with DHL Express: it ships from the workshop that made it, not from a warehouse of ready-made stock.
